Rain Dance
It’s cloudy,
I try to guess,
When?
But exactly when, will the first drop fall?
And suddenly, it lands on me.
A shower of drops joins in, with a deceiving rhythm
Light and heavy beats playing around me in a clever riddle.
An accelerating drumming heralds a storm,
And suddenly,
As with a wave of a wand,
A soft, melancholy ring promises calm.
I search for form, symmetry, reason…
And wonder… there is balance after all.
A refreshing beauty washes the air, the sights, the thoughts.
When nature plays it devotes itself to organized spontaneity,
It dances to the rules of composition that we can never decipher.
But one thing we can predict for certain:
Just like us –
The rain will never give two identical performances.
Rain Dance
Dedicated to Shiri Coneh
Hi Shiri, it’s pouring down in Hadera and with a festive chord I have just finished our rain! I’ll send you the music presently. I remember – you prefer it in handwriting.
